Poor condition of sports in India

T he problems the sports persons encounter in the path towards excellence are plenty and only the people who go into the depth would be able to fathom the reasons. Sports  does not get enough attention; barring cricket,other games neglected. Dismal performances on world stage. Not taken as a career. Reasons: In other countries opportunity to select any sport as a choice of career and even discontinue higher education. The welfare policies of those governments help make such choices. Parents in India discourage their children from continuing their studies as there is no guarantee of earning a livelihood. Abroad there are excellent facilities for all sports; better infrastructure. In India sports ranked below academics,seen more as a hobby,not integrated with formal education.Unlike America where most of the parents make it a point to attend a basketball game or a soccer match of their children,most parent in India try to discourage children from taking sports too seriously. INDIA a coutry where godedesses are worshipped it is indeed ironical that women are still to be weaker sex. The premium placed on the birth of a boy is everywhere to be seen. The prejudice against the girl child still exists and so the girl starts life on an unequal footing, that is if she is allowed to live! Female foeticide andinfanticide are still the order of day with many not even living their first breath. girls are deprived of their right to education. those who rise above the confines of the society to carve a niche for themselves have to work doubly hard to prove themselves at work place.
